Dear Internet Visitor: Lake Alfred is an incorporated city with a population of approximately 4,500. Lake Alfred has police and fire departments with ambulance services, all of which have a history of quick response time. Lake Alfred is a growing community with much open space for new businesses and industry. Residential growth has been approved north of our City toward Interstate-4, which will allow for environmentally friendly subdivisions to be built in the high and dry pastures of Florida's Green Swamp Region.
As a group, all of these organizations sponsor community events such as Fourth of July Family Day, an Arts and Crafts Festival, Holiday Celebrations, and Business Expo. We are a proud business community with a mix of traditional retail/service businesses; industry; and the quickly growing antique shops, tea rooms; and specialty businesses. We have become a destination to those seeking to leave the City life for a while or for a lifetime. Our close proximity to Lakeland, Orlando, and Tampa gives us the best of a small town life and big City convenience as they are just a short drive away. As
a family oriented community, Lake Alfred provides excellent
recreational facilities including lighted tennis courts,
shuffleboard, baseball and basketball courts. Some of the most
popular activities among our residents are boating, fishing, water
skiing and swimming. These activities can be enjoyed year
round on our seven lakes, several with boat ramps and access to the
northern Winter Haven Chain of Lakes. There are numerous
18-hole golf courses located within close proximity and a 9-hole
golf course located at Cypress Greens.
The
strong presence of civic organizations greatly enhances the family
orientation of Lake Alfred. Local residents are welcome to join the
Lion's Club, Masonic Lodge, or Friends of the Library. The
Chamber of Commerce encourages all residents to participate in its
events.
